Celebrate World School Milk Day
with our exciting Art Challenge Competition!
CALLING ALL TEACHERS!!!!!

Have you “herd” the most recent news
fresh from the farm to your fridge?
The DairyKids, powered by Consumer Education Project (CEP) of Milk SA, has partnered with E-Classroom to bring an artistic solution to help educate our learners about the importance of a healthy diet and a healthy environment in celebration of World School Milk Day. To make this day even more special, we are thrilled to invite all teachers to participate in our World School Milk Day Art Challenge competition!

In the build-up to World School Milk Day 2023, a brand-new Teacher’s Guide, for Grades R to 7, on the importance of recycling dairy containers, with fun and insightful activities to do in the classroom was created. These guides are available on the E-Classroom website as part of the DairyKids initiative to inform and equip the Educator with all the relevant information on dairy.
World School Milk Day is celebrated annually in September and was established by the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organisation) with the aim to raise awareness about the important contribution that milk and other dairy products make to the diet of school-going learners. During World School Milk Day, learners better understand dairy products, where they come from, how they are made and how they fit into the overall diet.

Maretha Vermaak, the registered dietitian at the CEP says, “Over so many decades, scientific research has confirmed that dairy offers a unique combination of important nutrients that supports healthy development and growth in children. Milk, maas, yoghurt and cheese offer specific diversity and versatility so that it is easy to find dairy options for children to enjoy
Teaching learners to care for their health is critical, but they also need to be aware of caring for the planet. This year, World School Milk Day will celebrate a healthy body and a healthy planet and therefore DairyKids invites teachers to take part in the art challenge where they could win their share of R8 000.00 in vouchers for art supplies for their classrooms.

To access these helpful resources, click here to visit the E-Classroom website's Free Resources section. Once there, select your grade and locate the relevant lesson plan under the Supplementary section.
