A NOVEL IDEA

Reading a novel with your students or child teaches crucial skills.While novels are studied in mainstream schools, our home- and cottage-school members may not realise how important they are.

Our Grade 8 English Home Language offering features the novel, King of Shadows by Susan Cooper, and our teacher has done all the legwork for you, so that you can study the novel with your children.

A child who reads will perform better academically than one who doesn't.

Reading a novel teaches fluency, intonation, listening and speaking skills and models inferencing, visualisations and summarising. It also greatly improves grammar, spelling and comprehensions skills.

A child who reads will perfom better academically than one who doesn’t - all subjects require reading and comprehension and without these critical skills, exam questions are often misunderstood.

While written for Grade 8, this Susan Cooper novel is suitable for children aged 12-16. We encourage our home- and cottage-schoolers to start reading now!

E-Academy shop closure in December

The E-Academy shop will be closed from 1st December 2022 for some remodelling and will re-open on 3rd January 2023 with lovely new bundle options.
