The beginning of the year saw the release of the matric results for 2015, and we extend hearty congratulations to all those who wrote the exams and who are now going on to tertiary education or into the world of work. Let’s not forget that some of our children had to overcome enormous obstacles to complete their studies, so while South Africa’s overall pass rate of just over 70% disappointed many, the number hides the great effort that many teachers and learners put into the task. We hope that our E-classroom resources – most of which are completely free – will play a growing role in enabling quality education in our schools and homes.

As you may know, e-Classroom is on a big mission to provide free, world-class education content for all our South African learners. It’s a goal we strive for but we rely on sponsorships to keep working towards achieving that goal. Maths and Science revision

Don’t forget to encourage your learners to make use of our revision papers during the year to practise prior to exams. We have made them available from our mobi-site as well as the Google Play Store and AppStore.  

CPD Courses

In the last newsletter, we mentioned that a group of teachers at Oval North Technical Secondary contacted E-Classroom to address them on an alternative approach to in-service teacher education, aimed at improving teachers’ maths subject content knowledge and classroom performance. We congratulate them as one of the top performing schools in Western Cape. On that note, we will be offering the following courses for PD points:

Decimals and Fractions:

The Programme’s outcomes are qualitative not quantitative. Two courses have been designed to improve subject knowledge and teaching competence in Fractions and Decimals. Each topic has eight units followed by a test and results can be accessed immediately.

Social and Emotional Learning:
